Since returning from lockdown 1 last year, specialist aluminium fabricator CDW Systems has been making sure its customers have been catered for during what has been a challenging 12 months.
And the message to them is to get their orders in early and take advantage of the Gloucester-based trade and commercial fabricator’s relationship with its major systems supplier.
With supply issues playing havoc with the industry, CDW Systems are aware of making sure they are helping their customers to get ahead – and securing materials for them will go a long way to doing that.
CDW Systems Group Chairman Jeremy Phillips said: “We have discussed with our major systems supplier about securing materials and they have asked us to give them as many forward orders as we can. So, the same goes for our customers. We’re advising them to get their orders in as early as possible.
“Supply issues are unfortunately going to be here for quite a while yet, but we are really close with our suppliers. They will tell us what is likely to go short so we can look at our order book and see what to order going ahead. Now is the time for customers to order with us.”
CDW Systems commitment to helping its customers win new business has come to the fore over the last year, with some major decisions paying dividends.
With order intake at record levels due to the industry boom, and the company’s confidence in the market, CDW Systems invested in a new Italmac Spring 7000 CNC machine
With the latest technology built in it has significantly increased CDW’s manufacturing capacity, particularly for commercial doors, and after a phased and controlled reopening after lockdown 1 the investment enabled CDW to get back to full capacity on all product lines quickly.
CDW Systems also introduced new product lines from Smart to its existing range to meet increasing demand from customers.
They included Designer Doors, to help installers tap into the increasingly popular premium aluminium door market; the Aliver flat rooflight system, roof lanterns, and Smart’s Heritage Range.
With the supply chain creaking, and the supply of accessories slowing things down in terms of getting orders out the door, CDW Systems decided to spread the risk by having several different suppliers so if one had a problem they were able to cope.
“The investments we’ve made have helped our customers kick on as quickly as possible,” said Jeremy. “When we got back from lockdown 1 it was important that we were able to fulfil orders for customers as quickly as possible and our new CNC machine helped us do that.
“We also used the lockdown to look at our product range; we wanted to add something extra for our customers and not just substitute products and we have seen the benefit of introducing new products to our portfolio.
“All our product lines are busy at our 13,000ft² factory and demand shows no signs of slowing down. If customers can get their orders in now they will be at the head of the queue.”
